The time has come! Even though, the College Football Season has already kicked off, it’s still acceptable to drop Playoff predictions. The season got here pretty fast, lemme tell ya. We’re back into the swing of things, and before you know it, the National Championship will be here. College Football will look a little different this year, with names like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, and DeVonta Smith, all off to the NFL. We should truly appreciate, how special they were to College Football. Who will we see step up and become the next set of stars? We will find out. Oklahoma just missed out on getting into the Playoff. I had them finishing with 1 loss. Clemson gets in, because their only loss is to Georgia. Here are my Playoff predictions for this season. Their records include Conference Championship Games. I hope you enjoy!
- Alabama 13-0 vs 4. Clemson 12-1
This will be the 5th time in the last 7 years, that these 2 powerhouses have met in the playoff. Crazy isn’t it? Let’s review their last 4 matchups. In the 2016 National Championship, Alabama beat Clemson 45-40. The following year in the National Championship, saw Clemson take down Alabama 35-31. In 2018, Alabama beat Clemson 24-6 in the semi-finals. 2019, Clemson took down Alabama 44-16 in the National Championship. These 2 teams, know each other very well, let’s put it that way. Alabama lost the 2nd most production on Offense of any team in the country, but their schedule isn’t very strong, and they should be back in the playoff like usual. The Defense only lost 3 starters (Surtain, Moses, Barmore), so they should be stronger this year. This Defense just might be the best in College Football.
Clemson obviously lost their 2 most important players on Offense, Trevor Lawrence, and Travis Etienne. You can tell their presence was missed, last Saturday night against Georgia. But let’s not throw the towel in on them yet. This Clemson team is still very talented. Sophomore Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei should be able to bounce back from that loss, and I expect him to. Their schedule isn’t very strong the rest of the way, and I see them running the table, and getting back into the playoff. Almost every Defensive starter returns, so this Defense should be much better this season. Giving up 10 points to a strong Georgia team, is pretty good if you ask me.
Final Score: Alabama 28 Clemson 17
2. Ohio State 13-0 vs 3. Georgia 12-1
You would think when a team loses their starting Quarterback (especially someone like Justin Fields), they wouldn’t go undefeated again. Well, they just did, again. It’s C.J. Stroud’s time now, as he patiently sat behind Fields last year. Only Bryce Young and D.J. Uiagalelei were ranked ahead of him in the 2020 Class. I bet you didn’t know that. He had a nice game last Thursday night against Minnesota, throwing for 294 Yards, and 4 Touchdowns. He’s picking up, right where Fields left off. He has the best WR tandem in the Country, in Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. That should do wonders for Stroud’s game this season. They did lose Trey Sermon, but they have a committee of backs, that should be fine moving forward.
It’s J.T. Daniels’ first full year as a starter for the Bulldogs. He was 4-0 as a starter last season. Not sure why it took Kirby Smart so long, to put Daniels in. If he started earleir, who knows, maybe Georgia advances to the Playoff. Their Offense returns almost every starter, so it should be really strong this season. They were without, George Pickens, Arik Gilbert, Darnell Washington, Dominick Blaylock, and Tykee Smith last Saturday night, and they still pulled it off. When everybody’s back healthy, look out. The Defense took a hit, loosing pretty much their entire Secondary, but they did get Derion Kendrick, and he will help anchor that Secondary. He got the last laugh last Saturday night, beating his old team.
Final Score: Georgia 30 Ohio State 24
National Championship: 1. Alabama 14-0 vs 3. Georgia 13-1
Another SEC matchup for the National Championship. These 2 teams met in the Natty in 2018, with Alabama coming from behind to win. The legend of Tua Tagovailoa was born. Oh how time flies. I gave Georgia only 1 loss in the regular season, and it was to Alabama. Georgia want’s revenge badly. Georgia has had top recruiting classes for years, but they just haven’t put it all together yet. Is this finally the year they do? Let’s find out. Like I mentioned earlier, Alabama’s Offense lost a ton of production, and I don’t see how that Offense, can match the success they had last year. It just takes time, to build chemistry. This Georgia Offense is going to be lethal this season. J.T. Daniels has everything around him, to succeed. Arik Gilbert is going to be the wild-card of that Offense. He’s a former 5 star recruit, and he was the #1 TE in his class. He’s away from the team right now, and if he comes back, he’s going to be a huge help to Daniels. Georgia has him listed as a WR on their website, and it will be interesting to see how he performs on the outside. He only started 1 game at TE last year, and it was against Alabama. I’ve been saying it all year, this is Georgia’s year. When Lee Corso made his headgear pick last Saturday he also said “It’s the year of the Dawgs”. Georgia gets sweet revenge on Alabama.
Final Score: Georgia 21 Alabama 18
