The Draft is here. It’s finally here! After months and months of preparation, teams and the Draft community, are ready for the Draft. Here is how I see this years Draft playing out. I hope you enjoy!
*indicates compensatory selection
1. Jacksonville = Aidan Hutchinson (Sr) EDGE – Michigan
- There’s been lots of chatter about Travon Walker here, but I still think Hutchinson is the pick. He’s too good of a player to pass up. He’s arguably the safest pick in this Draft.
2. Detroit = Kayvon Thibodeaux (Jr) EDGE – Oregon
- Thibodeaux has been knocked this whole processs, more than any other player, due to lack of effort. I’m not really worried about that. His play on the field speaks for itself. Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell dip back into the Duck pond, and selects the lethal Thibodeaux. It wouldn’t be a surprise to me, if he comes the best pass rusher in the league within 2-3 years. He’s truly got it all.
3. Houston = Ikem Ekwonu (Jr) OT/G – North Carolina State
- Houston can go in a variety of directions here, but with Laremy Tunsil’s future up in the air, they select Ekwonu. He should be one of the premier players at his position fairly quickly.
4. New York Jets = Evan Neal (Jr) OT – Alabama
- Mekhi Becton might not be back in New York, but even if he is, the Jets can use some more protection for Zach Wilson. Neal would help keep Wilson upright.
5. New York Giants = Travon Walker (Jr) DL – Georgia
- The Giants end Walker’s slide, and scoop up the former Georgia star. He would be a nice fit along that Giants Defensive Front.
6. Carolina = Kenny Pickett (RsSr) QB – Pittsburgh
- I’m not buying all these rumours that the Panthers will pass on a Quarterback here. It’s all smoke screens to me. Pickett and Rhule have a good relationship in the past, with Pickett initially committing their as a recruit. That’s the deal breaker for me. Pickett becomes the new face of the franchise in Carolina.
7. New York Giants (from Chicago) = Charles Cross (RsSo) OT – Mississippi State
- This could very well be a WR here, but that can be addressed later in the Draft. Daniel Jones can be better protected, in his make-or-break year in New York. Cross is the best pass protector in this Draft.
8. Atlanta = Jameson Williams (Jr) WR – Alabama
- Jameson Williams is ahead of his recovery, and that is huge for him being able to play right away. I am buying the rumours, that he will be the first WR off the board. He’s the fastest WR, and maybe the fastest player in this Draft. He would help open up things underneath for Kyle Pitts.
9. Seattle (from Denver) = Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner (Jr) CB – Cincinnati
- Gardner fits the mold of a tall long Seattle style Corner. He didn’t allow a single Touchdown in College, something that you don’t see very often.
10. New York Jets (from Seattle) = Garrett Wilson (Jr) WR – Ohio State
- Simply put, Zach Wilson needs more weapons around him. Garrett Wilson is a true#1 WR, who would take Wilson’s game to new heights.
11. Washington = Kyle Hamilton (Jr) S – Notre Dame
- We all know why Kyle Hamilton fell all the way here. Washington stops his slide, and selects him to be the new leader of their Secondary.
12. Minnesota = Derek Stingley Jr. (Jr) CB – LSU
- Stingley might be the biggest boom or bust pick in this Draft. If he plays like he did in 2019, your getting a steal, and maybe the best player from this Draft.
13. Houston (from Cleveland) = Chris Olave (Sr) WR – Ohio State
- Davis Mills needs more pieces around him, in order for him to ascend. Olave would help him significantly improve.
14. Baltimore = Trent McDuffie (Jr) CB – Washington
- Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters both suffered season ending injuries last year, and Peters is a free agent after next season. McDuffie is a little undersized, but he plays bigger on tape. He has #1 Corner upside.
15. Philadelphia (from Miami) = Drake London (Jr) WR – USC
- Jalen Reagor simply can’t be relied on moving forward, and that makes the Eagles select another WR in the 1st Round. London and Devonta Smith would be dangerous together.
16. New Orleans (from Philadelphia) = Trevor Penning (RsSr) OT – Northern Iowa
- With Terron Armstead signing with Miami, their is hole at Left Tackle. Raimann can fill that hole immediately, and help keep Jameis Winston upright.
17. Los Angeles Chargers = Jordan Davis (Sr) DT – Georgia
- I would have given the Chargers Trevor Penning, but he just got taken. Taking another Tackle here, is a bit of a reach, so they take the massive but athletic Davis. Davis would occupy double teams, allowing Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack to run free.
18. Philadelphia (from New Orleans) = Andrew Booth Jr. (Jr) CB – Clemson
- That Eagles Secondary struggled all season, and they need help immediately. Booth can provide that help, and would pair with Darius Slay, to form one of the better Corner duos in the league.
19. New Orleans (from Philadelphia) = Treylon Burks (Jr) WR – Arkansas
- Even with Michael Thomas in the lineup, the Saints still need another WR. Burks needs some polish, but can start and contribute right away. If he rounds out his game, look out.
20. Pittsburgh = Malik Willis (RsSr) QB – Liberty
- The Steelers probably didn’t envision a Quarterback falling to them, with the signing of Mitch Trubisky. Willis would compete for the starting gig right away, but probably needs a year to sit. If he cleans up some things, he can be special.
21. New England = Devin Lloyd (RsSr) LB – Utah
- Ja’Whaun Bentley and Dont’a Hightower are getting up their in age, and their play has declined. Lloyd would give Bill Belichick a versatile piece on his Defense.
22. Green Bay (from Las Vegas) = Jahan Dotson (Sr) WR – Penn State
- The Packers haven’t drafted a WR in the 1st Round since they selected Javon Walker in 2002. That streak is finally broken, and it’s 100% the right time. Dotson can immediately fill the void left by Davante Adams. Aaron Rodgers has a new best friend.
23. Arizona = Jermaine Johnson (RsSr) EDGE – Florida State
- The Cardinals are thrilled that Johnson slid all the way to them. Johnson would start right away in the place of the departed Chandler Jones. Johnson’s ceiling is very high.
24. Dallas = Kenyon Green (Jr) OG/T – Texas A&M
- This could be a WR, but better protecting Dak Prescott takes priority. Connor Williams is gone, and Green could step in and start right away. Once Tyron Smith retires, Green could even move to Left Tackle.
25. Buffalo = Kaiir Elam (Jr) CB – Florida
- I wouldn’t be surprised if this pick is used on a WR, but it’s not a huge need for the Bills. Corberback however is. Levi Wallace is out the door, and Tre’Davious White is coming off a torn ACL. More forces are needed. Elam has traits teams covet at the position.
26. Tennessee = Zion Johnson (Sr) OL – Boston College
- Could this be a Quarterback? I don’t think so. Rodger Saffold, and David Quessenberry both signed with Buffalo, meaning more help is needed on the line. Johnson played both Tackle and Guard in College, but did play some Centre at the Senior Bowl. He would help clear lanes for Derrick Henry.
27. Tampa Bay = Tyler Linderbaum (RsJr) IOL – Iowa
- The Bucs have holes at both Guard spots, with Ali Marpet retiring, and Alex Cappa leaving for Cincinnati. Linderbaum played Centre at Iowa, but I think he can play Guard to, and that’s where I see him starting off. Then once Ryan Jensen hangs it up, Linderbaum can slide into his spot.
28. Green Bay = David Ojabo (RsSo) EDGE – Michigan
- We all know David Ojabo will slide, and we all know why. The Packers stop his slide and select him here. He’s a moldable ball of clay, that has All-Pro potential.
29. Kansas City (from Miami) = George Pickens (Jr) WR – Georgia
- If Pickens didn’t suffer a torn ACL last Spring, he would go higher than this. We all know the Chiefs need a WR, after shipping Tyreek Hill to Miami. Pickens would become the new #1 WR for Patrick Mahomes. He does come with risk though.
30. Kansas City = Kyler Gordon (RsJr) CB – Washington
- Charvarius Ward signed with San Francisco, but even before another Corner was needed. Gordon has great upside for the position.
31. Cincinnati = Daxton Hill (Jr) S/CB – Michigan
- The Bengals have reworked their Offensive Line, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they take one here. Hill has experience playing both Safety and Corner, and would give that Bengals Secondary some help. He would provide insurance, incase Jessie Bates leaves after next season.
32. Detroit (from Los Angeles Rams) = Nakobe Dean (Jr) LB – Georgia
- This could be a Quarterback, but I see them going in a different direction. Dean slides due to his size and length, but he’s too good of a player to fall out of the 1st Round. Dean would be the teams new signal caller on Defense.
